Pre-heat oven to 300° F
Mix flour, sugar and salt. Beat egg yolks, add flour mixture and blend well. Beat egg whites and fold into yolk mixture.
Melt 1 stick butter in large, deep iron frying pan. Pour mixture into pan and cook over slow flame for 3-4 minutes. Place under broiler and cook slowly 3-4 minutes more. Put in slow oven for 2-3 minutes more.
Meanwhile, melt 2 sticks butter until brown. Turn soufflé over on a hot dish and pour browned butter over it; sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
