Cheese Straws


Ingredients

  • ¼ - ½ Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 Pound Sharp Cheddar
  • 2¾ Cups Flour
  • 2 Sticks Butter

Directions

Pre-heat oven to 350° F

Let cheese and butter come to room temperature. Grate cheese and mix with butter thoroughly. Add cayenne and flour. Use a cookie press with the “star” wheel to make long strips on a cookie sheet. Alternatively, you could pat the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into long strips. Careful not to handle dough too much.

Salt the straws and bake for 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute, then break into about 3” pieces. Store in tightly covered container.
